Dr. Sandra Butler-Truesdale
Dr. Sandra Butler-Truesdale, born November 15, 1939, in Washington, D.C., was a pioneering educator, minister, and community leader. A graduate of Dunbar High School and Howard University (B.A. ’61, M.A. ’65), she broke barriers as D.C.’s first African American female vocational education teacher and later served as an assistant principal. Ordained in 1988, she ministered at Allen Chapel AME Church and founded Unity Fellowship Ministries. A lifelong advocate for education and faith, she earned a Doctor of Divinity and inspired countless students and congregants. She passed away on October 28, 2023, leaving a legacy of service and resilience.
